Our Story
Marsh Design | Build was created out of a simple observation: too many projects fall apart in the space between design and construction. Customers are often left coordinating between designers, engineers, builders, and city officials—only to watch their original vision get diluted by miscommunication, delays, and change orders. Our firm was built to offer something better.

About The Owner
Zach Marsh is the founder of Marsh Design | Build, where he brings together technical rigor, regulatory fluency, and hands-on craftsmanship to deliver exceptional residential and commercial projects. He holds a degree in civil engineering, earned while serving as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, where he developed a leadership style grounded in precision, accountability, and mission-oriented execution.

Before founding his firm, Zach served as both a site development engineer and construction inspector within city and state building departments. These roles provided him with direct, practical insight into project delivery from the perspective of the regulatory authority. His deep understanding of municipal codes, permitting procedures, and site development standards allows him to anticipate challenges early and guide projects smoothly from initial concept through final approval.

What distinguishes Zach is not just his technical background, but his direct involvement on the job site. He performs and is intimately involved in all portions of the construction process himself ensuring that the design intent is executed accurately and field conditions are addressed in real time. This integrated approach results in fewer change orders, tighter quality control, and better coordination across trades.
Zach is particularly drawn to residential infill projects like ADUs, which demand a nuanced understanding of urban constraints, site logistics, and permitting complexity. He also has a strong interest in commercial tenant improvements, where adaptive reuse and code compliance require strategic problem-solving. He chooses projects that he’s genuinely passionate about—ones where his involvement can make a meaningful difference.
